GRUNER&FRIENDS lead the design of this large scale project with a goal to harmonize with the future version of client’s company. Sitting in an industrial complex in the outskirts of Basel, the client’s existing headquarters are transformed into a modern manufacturing machine. With a client at the frontier of the 4.0 Industrial Era, it was essential to focus on innovation and operational enhancement.
Inspired by the client’s DNA, GRUNER&FRIENDS developed a corporate design, based on cubic boxes. The guiding concept of this project is the cubic box module. The expansion is envisioned as assembly of a multitude of modules creating the structural framework. This architectural language is consistent throughout the project, from the structural grid, to the courtyard terrace and interior design, such as the showroom and office space.
Through an in-depth study of the production process, GRUNER&FRIENDS uses cutting-edge tools to design an expansion that optimizes internal logistics while expressing a clear architectural concept. In anticipation of future expansion, this next-generation industrial building is composed of a calculated grid system which is applicable to all possible programmatic combinations.
